Career planning and management
...encourages individuals to recognise their own responsibility in planning their career and creating valuable personal development plans.
Programmes can be delivered as group workshops, tailored to work within an organisation’s existing continuous learning structure, or can be offered via a personalised executive one-to-one coaching programme.
Career management focus areas
To create self-motivated, action-oriented individuals with strong career paths by:
- Creating a strong vision, purpose and direction for their future
- Identifying who they need to become in order to manage their career
- Discovering core values and understanding what they wish to gain from their career
- Connecting with what motivates and drives their career
- Developing relationship-building skills for effective networking
- Recognising the positive benefit of feedback and appraisal schemes
- Devising powerful personalised action plans
Option A: One-to-One Coaching Format
A programme of six to ten sessions is usually recommended and is carried out either face-to-face or by telephone.
If the coaching is to be provided by telephone, some clients appreciate the opportunity to meet with their coach face-to-face for their first session. During the first session the individual and their coach get to know each other and agree a framework, focus areas and desired outcomes for future sessions. Once coaching begins, the coaching sessions themselves are only part of the picture: the coach provides as much or as little email support and back up as required.
The first step of the process is for the individual to complete a pre- programme questionnaire and for a company sponsor or line manager to complete the Sponsor questionnaire on the individual’s behalf. Once we have read through the responses to both questionnaires and gained clearer insights into the specific development areas for the individual and their preferred style of working, we will match them with the FPG™ coach on our team, we believe is likely to best suit their needs.
Ideally people commit to working with a coach for at least six months to see a genuine return on investment. This then continues to have an impact long after the coaching itself has been completed.
Option B: Career Coaching Workshops
A stand-alone or series of workshops or group conference calls with pre- and post-session assignments, assessments and 360º feedback elements, as appropriate. Additional post-workshop one-to-one coaching may be appropriate for some individuals.
