Ian is a qualified executive coach and leadership development consultant with over 20 years experience in senior human resource and development roles in a variety of large complex organisations within the leisure and tourism, healthcare and utilities sectors. Before becoming a consultant, Ian worked as head of talent for an international FTSE 100 group, responsible for group-wide talent management, leadership development, executive coaching and performance management.

Ian is a chartered member of the Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and member of the Association for Coaching. He is also the co-author of the book “Where were all the coaches when the banks went down?” which presents the challenging FACTS coaching model based on Feedback, Accountability, Courageous Goals, Tension and Systems Thinking. Ian regularly presents at conferences and to human resources and coaching professional bodies.



Ian is an experienced executive coach and has worked with over 100 leaders and managers, including Board members, since 2003, in a variety of areas including leadership development, high potential development, performance coaching and fast-tracking senior leaders in the first crucial months of their role. He is also a specialist in the design, delivery and facilitation of workshops, having facilitated team coaching and specialist skills workshops with senior teams within large international organisations. Areas of team development have included leadership skills, delegation, feedback and management skills, with a focus on enabling teams to achieve business objectives more effectively as an aligned collective.

Ian’s style is to listen actively and to generate creative options through challenge and support whilst being results-focused. He is practical, pragmatic and upbeat and gives illumination of issues individuals and businesses face. Ian’s clients include Allen & Overy, E.ON, First Utility, Gazprom, Jones Lang LaSalle, Steria, Thermofisher, The Environment Agency and Worcester Bosch.
